NEW UPDATE!

I continued porting the past game, updating the map as even though I had all the time in the world it was rushed before in the past game. I now have put more effort in the map than before.

Added:
  • Minimap doors, as requested
  • 4 weapons.
  • 2 abilities, including one movement upgrade
  • 2 new areas
  • 2 new bosses
  • new music for the new content
  • new obstacles
  • music player

Also, shoutouts to HotRodHank who has been very involved with this and the past game, they helped a lot in debugging SILLY mistakes.

I absolutely loved it, I like where it is going! The weapons are nicely balanced and the bosses don't feel like pushovers. I love obliterating bosses but the damage compared to the boss health is a very good mix right now!

I couldn't exactly find where the heart weapon was, although this was the same save as used for the older demo so I don't know if that has caused any issues. 

I do have a couple points of feedback. When you are at the height of your double jump, instead of floating for a very short second and then accelerating downwards like a normal jump, it feels like you hit a ceiling and immediately start going downwards. It feels different to the normal jump that you get accustomed to, so it might be difficult to maneuver when double jump is needed. 

My only other feedback is damage numbers when hitting an enemy. My apologies if this is already planned to be implemented, but damage numbers makes hitting enemies feel more reactive and can make figuring out what weapon to use a lot easier. It can also show their defense values, which is a really nice stat to have.

Overall, this demo is very good and playing it was a joy. I love how you are revamping the previous bosses, it makes them so much more engaging and all the textures fit your aesthetic very well. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to look into the double jump, it shouldn't be any more different than a regular jump since double jumping just forces a jump mid-air.

Edit: the floaty peak time is indeed canceled during a double jump, good observation.

The damage popups are going to be reimplemented, I also considered a DPS meter in the UI, but this might too strange and confusing for a regular player.

The heart weapon is just right next to the heart boss, I don't know if i updated it in the UI.

old savefiles shouldn't have any issues for newer versions, it might break future features but currently there are many checks when loading a savefile, so if nothing is on the save it resets to default values.

The DPS meter would be a nice addition, maybe make it an option in settings so people who aren't die-hard damage maxxers(I am a die-hard damage maxxer myself lol) don't have the screen cluttered. Thank you for responding and looking at the feedback!

I am about to play it, I'm excited for all the new stuff you have added! Also, thank you so much for the shoutout, I want this game to be the best it can be. I'll keep letting you know if I find anything!
